The Canton Flea Market Arts and Crafts Show is held on the lawn of the historic Madison County Courthouse. This has become one of the largest outdoor crafts market in the South. The Canton Flea Market is always held on the second Thursday in May and October every year. It began in 1965 as an art show with local artists hanging their paintings on the wrought iron fence surrounding the grounds of the Courthouse. Voted one of the Top Twenty Events in the southeast, this Show attracts up to 1,000 artists and craftsmen from across the country.
The Madison County Herald: Get your pecans any way you like the
During her childhood in south Mississippi, picking up Mississippi pecans on her grandparents' farm was a chore Mandy Davis hated, especially in the hot summertime when her friends were enjoying more leisurely pastimes. Now that she's grown up and living in Ridgeland, she misses the plentifulness of the nuts, especially since she enjoys baking cakes, pies and candy for her family. Davis is happy she can now gather the nuts at their source - primarily at Bass Pecan Company's newest location in Canton. |
Pecan Fresh Harvest
And we are very excited about the fresh harvest. This year’s crop looks and tastes outstanding!! Due to the late winter and the recent drought, we have definitely seen a delay in the pecans filling out on the trees. However, the quality is excellent. We know we are delayed in getting some orders out, but I will tell you, it is definitely worth the wait. We are so proud of our pecans. We are proud of our efforts that go on year round in taking care of our orchards to insure a quality product each and every fall.
