Growing Pecan Trees
Bass Pecan Company wants you to grow the pecan trees that will satisfy your taste and growing conditions. As you explore our website to learn about each variety, you’ll find descriptions of their characteristics to assist in selecting the right trees for you. Each variety has its own page with details about the tree and its pecans, as well as links to the latest edition of our Guide to Planting and Growing Pecan Trees and Tree Bark, our Blog. Pecan trees vary in the number of nuts per pound and the percentage of meat in the harvest. Fewer nuts per pound means larger sized pecans, and the percentages reflect how the nuts fill. Some pecans are more susceptible to pests and disease, some begin producing sooner than others. As you consider which varieties are right for you, we strongly suggest planting both Type I and Type II pecan trees to insure cross-pollination. To get started, click on your location on the map below to determine your growing zone and begin selecting your pecan trees. And remember, when you have questions, Bass Pecan Company has answers. Check the FAQs and the Q/A Archive at Tree Bark, and if you don’t find your issue addressed there, please send email to trees@basspecan.com, or call us at 1-800-PECANS-1.
