Container Grown Pecan Trees

All seed stock for our trees comes from superior trees within our orchards. After extensive trials, we have developed our proprietary TLOG™ germination system. This system allows us to force germinate our seed and produce a consistent same age root stock. We then air prune the taproot twice to break the tap root dominance. When this is done, we are able to manipulate and train the roots to a dense fibrous root system by growing our trees in patented Rootmaker containers.

Low Input Pecan Trees

Bass is producing a wide variety of pecan cultivars. Many of our cultivars are considered Low Input cultivars. Low Input means that the trees can be grown with minimal amount of spraying for disease and insects. Some of these are older cultivars, while others have been recently trialed and released. The Low Input cultivars can be grown where spraying is not possible or desirable.

Pollination Of Pecan Trees

Pecan Trees are either Type I(protandrous) and Type II(protogynous). Type I trees mature pollen and release it first. On Type II trees the female flowers are receptive first and then the pollen is released. Type I and Type II trees with overlapping pollen release and receptivity should be planted together to insure pollination.

Growing Pecan Trees

Pecan trees need fertilization and adequate water to produce good quality pecans. Trees should be planted on good deep soils with good drainage. Pecans can withstand periodic flooding but not standing water for an extended period of time. Plant Bass Root-Max™ trees for fast growth and early production.
