Again proving pecans’ adaptability, this recipe adds another flavor with which the nut can be enjoyed. If you like “heat,” use the pepper sauce.
- 2 cups of pecans (preferably halves)
- 1 to 3 teaspoons of liquid smoke or chipotle pepper sauce
- 1 to 2 tablespoons of butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon of salt
Preheat oven to 310 degrees. In a bowl, coat pecans with liquid smoke or pepper sauce; let stand for 15 minutes. Combine the butter and salt; pour over pecans and toss to coat well. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes; stir. Bake 10-15 minutes longer or until golden brown.
Yield: 2 cups
